Gianduja

What is Gianduja? It is a hazelnut/chocolate treat created in Torino, Italy when Napoleon blocked trade with the British and created a glut in the cocoa supplies of that chocolate loving city. Being resourceful, they turned to hazelnuts, in which they were wallowing, to stretch out the limited cocoa supply. The result was a nutty, sweet, chocolatey creation that was so astonishingly delicious that it remains a staple to this day. Some would use Nutella as a descriptor but what we make is closer to Nirvanic bliss. The melt and the explosive flavors inspire thoughts of glory, pomp, splendor, majesty, sumptuousness, magnificence....

Ours is: fresh harvest hazelnuts from La Mancha Ranch in Sweet Home, OR, 70% dark chocolate and salt. It is one of the best things we make.
